Some old throwback posts of Northern California restaurants are coming your way…

I am going back to visit the Bay Area in a few weeks, which I am incredibly excited about as it will be almost a year since I was last home.   Two good NYC friends and frequent travel companions are getting married in Napa Valley and it is going to be a ridiculously grand time.  My friends and I have rented this gorgeous farmhouse in Yountville and I just am so thrilled to see the people I love in the wine country I love.  The couple we like to call “Hermielle” are so much fun to be around and so easy-going; it was no question I had to fly 20 hours to join their celebration.

So to get back into the Cali mood, Natalya and I are posting a bunch of Napa restaurant reviews this week.  Most of these restaurant visits are from years ago but we never got around to actually publishing it (my fault).  So the menus have obviously changed since then, but these restaurants are still thriving to this day and the memory of our these fabulous meals will always remain.

Natalya and I are big fans of the farm-to-table concept and especially so when it can be experienced to true authenticity.  Yes, that means visiting a farm.  Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch provided just that experience.  The restaurant uses all local ingredients, and feature “Long Meadow Ranch’s all natural grass-fed beef, organic and sustainably produced eggs, fruits, vegetables, extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, and honey.”

Natalya, my sister, Noz, and I all came here for brunch back in 2011 and the meal memory has stayed with me since.  The restaurant is housed in a former nursery barn and has a lively, open kitchen.  Post brunch, we took our time to frolic around the garden and play on the swing set.  There is also the Long Meadown Ranch Winery next door which is open for tastings daily from 11am – 6pm.
